Rita Jones has been directing the Gender, Leadership, and Empowerment Center for nearly 20 years and enjoys meeting and working with new people and digging deeper into collaborations with long term colleagues. In addition to teaching for the Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program, she also directs internships within GLE. She has published on housework, sex and motherhood, and connecting University gender equity work with Panhellenic sororities on college campuses, and she has delivered conference presentations on Title IX work within universities and the communities that form around Jane Austen products and texts. She is proud of working with Lehigh colleagues to increase and improve dedicated lactation/chestfeeding spaces on campus. She continues to learn about 18-19 century British masculinity from her spouse, the challenges of housing equity in the Lehigh Valley and the inner workings of health care policy from her sons. While Suzie the dog believes Rita must be protected at all costs, Piper the cat just finds her good at snuggling.
